A tip for Mozilla firefox users :

If people are having problems with twitterlicious.

For those using Mozilla firefox as a browser there is an addon available called twitterfox.

https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/5081

just install this addon to mozilla and log on to twitterfox with same username as your twitter account.

it works fine for me.

I had trouble shutting it down last night.  Twitterlicious wouldn't shut down and therefore wouldn't let the computer shut down.  I'm not sure what I finally did to put it to sleep after about 10 trys.

Hey Rog....down at the bottom right you will see the twitter bee icon.  Right click on that and hit exit.  That will close twitter completely and allow you to shut down your computer.

For those that are getting that installer error do you have version 3 or greater of the windows installer?  You can check that via your add remove software feature.  You also need to have microsoft .NET framework 2.0 installed for the twitterlicious application to work.

Mine seems to be working OK ..but I can not get the setting to take where the bubble pops up to let you know a new tweep has arrived.  Is there an app that uses sound maybe ?

Did you click on the spanner (options) - alerts- and check the box that says "show bubble in the system tray" ?   Be sure and click on ok.

Mine makes a popping noise when the bubble pops up.

Lol.  I just sent a test too.  How often do you have it set for updates?  Mine is on every 3 minutes.  It could be you have to wait for the next update...

Will send out another test.

I see the tweet by WD about nightjars 12 min ago so it did go out.  What app are you using WD?  by double clicking the icon in the system tray will bring up the list of tweets that you got.  You only see those tweets of who you are following with your app.

WD, if you use firefox as your browser, there is an add on called twitterfox that I also use, where it plays a sound file you choose on your pc when a update comes in.  by chance with two up, sometimes I will get alerted by one a couple min before the other app since the lowest time for refresh is 3 min on each.  I just saw Karens alert.  Note that no pop up  came up with the app window open.

Here's the link for twitterfox.  I really like this one, and you can add a sound..

note that the time where it says x minutes ago will change each time it refreshes.  in testing it did seem to be quite accurate with the CAT time it was sent and how long it was before I could get it if refresh was done right after being sent.

Hi everyone,

Thanks to all who are involved in this project, your help is greatly appreciated.

I think it's important for all of us to make sure that "twitterlicious" is the right program to use for an average Africam user. As some of you have pointed out there are other applications which do similar things. If any of you have suggestions on one which might be better please pass it along.

Please check out the thread in this forum topic about the messgae we want to publish to the public when we launch, and post any questions or suggestions you might have.

Thanks again!

Mac

I got the tweep in my twitterlicious box, but I do not get an alert.  I have done the spanner/alerts/bubble/OK thing, but I do not get any alert.  I had the tweep in about 1 minute though.

That is correct.  We are supposed to get a pop up balloon in the system tray.  the twitterlicious icon is there, but never any pop up.

mmm, that's weird...

do you have a pop-up blocker active that could be blocking it ?
