About

im a 60 year old  male - i have been in a wheel chair

since 1973 as result of a logging accident which

left me a paraplegic -

i  enjoy camping  fishing and  nature photography.

i bought my first camera at age ten- 2 box tops

from kellogs corn flakes and $2.00

that got me started in my interests in nature.

i did a three year  marsh survey  in  on a ducks-unlimited

project in - BURGES  AND JAMES GADSON PROVINCIAL PARK

canadian national parks  that i spent  over 30 years in

taking photos - i spent 14 years studing the  bighorn

sheep at tangle creek -columbia icefields -jasper  park

in burges and gadson park is

where i  really got hooked on bird watching

and data gathering-  in (3) years i counted 139

species on birds in a- 401 hectar size park.

the grizz( marian ) would help me in the canoe

and would leave me thier for 4- 8 hours  and i would

canoe the marsh looking for nest- birds animals ect .

i took    LYRIK  my lab with me on all canoe trips

i have taken photo trips  to - alaska- yukon and north west territories- alberta- saskatchewan  - all in CANADA

and washington- oregon- idaho-montana- wyoming

in the  UNITED STATES.

all in a camper truck or truck and 5th wheel  trailer.

favourite places i have been to are

denali national park in alaska- dempster highway

in the yukon and yellowstone national park- wyoming .

now i live on an island  and have slowed down

feed birds on our property and watch AFRICAM.

i live with a lovley lady( marian  - the grizz)

marian got the name -GRIZZ- from me  becuase

this wonderfull person would go to work in a  bank

for 20 years and be so nice to all the people

then she came home and turned into a grizzly bear lol

thats why i was allways in the bush - or parks

we have have two pets- cody cat- pepper  min-pin

i enjoy the  africam site  because of the participation

of the nkorho- elephant plains lodges  and staff

with africam  members- thats all folks

Very interesting, Barry.  Love you photos.  They are great.

Keep us updated on your activities and show any new

photos you make.  I love taking pictures, too, but do not

have your know-how.  Thanks for sharing.

Hi Barry, I love Alf. In fact, I just bought an Alf stuffed animal off of ebay for my 25 year old son for Christmas. Got the Season 1 and 2 DVDs also for him, trying to put some kid fun back into Christmas. Leave it to you to get a picture of Alf; and it looks like he got a picture of you too. That's just like Alf. Tell "Grizz" Hi. Those of us who have worked with the public understand turning into a grizzly after work. Just feed her lots of fish and berries and keep her healthy. I am having fun looking at your photos and learning more about Canada. I am 60 also and still teach second grade. I love the kids and I love geography and animals so your info will help me learn more about the real Canada to share with them. (maybe not the eagle attack at their age, but the bear picture is great, as are the National Parks). Back to Africa! lkfen

Hi Barry!   You have had an interesting life so far, and no doubt will have many more adventures.

Your photos are beautiful, and I suppose that's not even the right word.  They capture something in a way that makes us see it....photography is also one of my hobbies, and am getting used to a digital camera.  It doesn't beat the old slr though, which was like a part of me.

I am sorry about the wheelchair. Logging is a dangerous way to make a living!  Both of my brothers were loggers, had a small operation up the coast, and thank goodness they both got out of it without serious injuries, except that my oldest brother became deaf as a result of the chainsaw noise, at a time when nobody had to wear safety equipment except for a hard hat.

Thank you for all you are doing to capture Africam images for us.
