If you don't mind, I would like to email you directly rather than use Africam for this.  Do you have a direct email address where I can send the whole story?  or you can email me at .

In my investigation (so far) I think Dreamweaver absolutely can do what we want, but it appears to be overkill for us... which is why I was looking at Expressions.  But for long term use, it might be a worthwhile investment. We are looking to host our own site on our own server.

Again, thanks so much Maxx.

Keep in mind Drupal and others like Joomla and Xoops are Content Management Systems that run on a web server to create pages. Expressions and Dreamweaver are webpage makers that run on your computer and make pages that later must be uploaded to a web server. The two types of programs are very different and can't really be compared to each other. I use Dreamweaver to make pages. If you are starting from scratch, you will need to decide what your site is going to do. If you plan to be interactive with people, like Africam....then something like Dreamweaver will not get you there. You will need something like a Blog or a forum, and you likely can't make those yourself. If all you want is to present information....then a page maker might be all you need. Africam is using a heavily modified version of Drupal to perform the function of a forum. Also, although most web servers will take systems like Drupal, not all will. Your webspace provider can tell you what you can run or not run.

Oh gosh, that's disappointing.  And thank you for the reply and info.

Is there a Drupal-like product out there that you do think is worthwhile?  What do you think of Microsoft Expressions?  or Dreamweaver?

Your comments during the transition on this site were insightful and informative.  I do appreciate your input.

I installed Drupal just as a test to see if I could learn some things that might have been of assistance to Africam. I never planned to use it for my website. I use Invision Power Board for my cam forum, and make my own web pages for other things. In short....I don't like Drupal at all. Yeah....it's free....but it is also bulky, slow and requires considerable knowledge to get it working right. I don't reccomend it to anyone.

Hi Maxx - I haven't logged on to the Africam site for a while, but recalled that you were starting to use Drupal for one of your websites and wanted to contact you about that.  I work for a non-profit and we are needing to set up our website.  Being a very small organization, we all wear multiple hats, and one of mine is searching out our possibilities.  I am looking at Drupal and wanted to ask your opinion of it.  I hope you don't mind.  Laughing

Here is my email address if you would like to email me directly:  . Thanks in advance.
