AboutI'm a 50-something stay-at-home-mom to two girls (12 and 16). Both have Asperger's Syndrome: one is home schooled, one is tutored. We have four cats: Calico, K.C., Smokey, and Chloe. I love gardening, antique and thrift shopping (especially on eBay!), vintage stuff, cherry decorations, crafting, and going to church. I've been following Africam for about two years now and like to play Solitaire while having the cams up! Thanks for the welcome, Sue. I'm very excited about Africam, and getting to know you all - and the "critters" It's true I _used_ to be a botanist, a long time ago, it seems, but I never took a single course in horticulture - none was offered. I love trying to garden, but I've discovered it takes a lot of dedication and hard work! The Japanese say " The best fertilizer is the gardener's shadow." Best Wishes, Carol

Hello Sue! Nice to meet you, too! What I read in your profile just about blew me away! YOU have children with Aspergers??? MY SON, my ONLY child, ALSO has Aspergers Syndrome! He was in a special autism treatment center when he was little, 2 1/2 to 6 years of age. But he's been in public school since kindergarten. He's now finished grade 11 and will, hopefully, graduate next year. He is very smart, so he is quite able to do high school level work, tho he mostly has the maturity level of a 12-year-old. He is currently in a program called Youth Transitions To Adulthood. He does not live with me, as he has been in foster care since the age of 8. I was very ill with my own health problems then, and could not care for his as well. Anyway, thanks for writing to me. Nice to have something in common with someone on here! Regards, PrayerRider P.S. I'm glad you like my username! |
