video feed problems

Not sure if this is weather related, power related, too many cams, or what the problem is, but... For the past week or so, more in the past 2 days, severe buffering at the waterhole. Between this and the Boma's with it's posting/reading problems, it makes watching the cams a lesson in patience with mine really wearing thin. This all seemed to start with trying to get elephant plains up on board, and I'm wondering if this is cutting into the bandwith supply? If adding another cam is causing this kind of problem, I can't imagine what live drive cams will do to the system, and we've all been subjected to the problems that can be. Perhaps it's just a few of us having the buffer problems, if that is so, any advice on how to clear it up would be greatly appreciated! I count my blessing every day for what I do get to see and hear, but I have gotten spoiled with the Nkorho stream, and I'm not a happy cammer when that gets messed with Sad

At the moment the video feed is running smoothly with no problem.

Hi Aunty Lynn

I live in SA and have found this problem occurs during the week from about 3pm sa time and on weekends most of the weekend I think you could be right about the band width, this could be the problem, as it seems to be when there are most persons on line.

Lisa - we had a proble a few days ago with less than perfect satellite communications. We made a minor adjustment and ita appears that particular problem is licked.

As u are having the same problem with PP it leads me to suspect ur ISP is not supplying decent bandwidth.

When viewing, at least from Nkorho, right click the video feed. That should give u access to some stats which should indicate what is required to view the feed & what ur ISP is actually suppling

Auntie Lynn I am having the same problem here in New Zealand. The Nkorho Stream cam is constantly buffering or freezing now. It used to be fine. I have also had this problem with the Pete's Pond cam. Any solutions?

Very glad you have no problems posting...neither do I ...IF ...there is nothing to post about.  The only time I have problems posting is if there is a sighting of a critter/critters.  Tnks

Jon, I live in Florida and am therefore presently 6 hours behind you, and when DST is over, it will be 7 hours behind you. My experience with Africam is when I get up in the morning my time, it is approx 12-1pm CAT. I get to watch a few hours before going to work, and when I return to watch again, it is about 11-12pm CAT.

I have not noticed a pattern to the problems with posting to the forum, other than when there is a sighting, it bogs down with error messages. It is slow even when there is no sighting at times. It takes a long time once you have hit reply for the system to bring up the comment box, and even longer time for it to post thru. If there is something going on, often you will get the error message about too many users, and you have to hit your back button and if your lucky your post made it. If you hit the refresh you wind up with multiple posts. There is no enjoyment in talking with each other about what we are seeing, it is more of a tedious process now. Then add with that the feed problems Telcom has been having, it makes it even more frustrating. The forum is not an enjoyable part of watching Africam any longer for me.

As far as your posting and not having problems, I haven't noticed you posting in the Streaming forums responding to what is on the cam (ie: running dialog with the group back and forth in the streaming/waterhole threads). I would imagine if you only post once in an hour you might not notice any problems, but many of us are posting back and forth like a conversation. The problems become obvious at that time.

I should have been clearer, my post above relates to Forum slowness.

Right now there is a satellite failure and that is why there is no feed

Hi all

from holland the same problems. have tried everything but at the moment after restarting a few times I have no feed at all. I thought I had cracked it by accepting the pop-ups from the website but that didn't help. I m out of ideas.

please get back soon. Thijs
