Thanks Howwa and Janice ...I have heard them Hiss but never heard anything else.  Bud Dog chased something under the bushes last night when I sent him out to pick up his toys. I heard a little squeal and I was afraid he had chased a Raccoon ..I looked with flash light but could not see anything. I know I have Possums and he likes to chase them ( he does not fight or bite .. just scares the beejeebies out of them ).  The Raccoons scare me because of rabies .

I've heard ours here make quite loud noises...deep noises, like growling...not sure I would call it squeaks or squeals

They can do a lot of noises, young ones too.  Usually pretty quiet.   I have to be careful not to trip over  them while star gazing.  The grill brings them in, I'm sure.

I jumped at the hyena and I knew it was there!

does anyone know if possums makes noise ?  I know they hiss but do they squeak  or squeal ??
