elephant plain news letter is out here is a small section from it

    Lion:
It has been almost a full year during which the Mapogo males have been mating with the Tsalala females and unfortunately they have not yet had any cubs again. We anticipate that if B.B has young cubs and stays close to her daughters that they will be motivated into having some cubs of their own. We saw a lot of B.B’s young male cub this month. He had a couple of bruises which we think might be due to a fight with the Mapogo’s, but luckily it didn’t appear to be too serious. The brave one thought that he could eat a porcupine, but as you can imagine, that did not work too well. The only thing he got was a quill stuck in his neck! I am also happy to report that the Stix females and their cubs are doing very well.

Any toads that get in the pan will be eaten by the catfish

Now for an update on the African Bush Banquet that we attended on the 6th of September. It was a beautiful, cloudless day and the event was hosted by the Southern Cross School in Hoedspruit.

Fifteen lodges competed in the Silver Cluster category for 4 star lodges. This was Elephant Plains’ first African Bush Banquet and we came away with some bragging rights! Elephant Plains received a 3rd place in the “Best Main Course” category, 3rd place for “Best Food and Wine Paring”

and Donald Mathebula, our barman, received the “Best Waitron” award. The evening was a great experience and it was interesting to see what the other competitors brought to the event

Karen it means also.. no toads or frogs...no birds who eat them. Only a big bird for the catfish. So it can be a change in sightings for birds this year at Nkorho Puzzled

But that's wildlife, never the same always "moving" Eye-wink

If it was a Scopes, it's not a typical noise. I've heard it before but hadn't paid too much attention till tonight. Thanks though
