WATERING HOLE CHAT SITE TUESDAY AUGUST 12 2008
Good question for the Q & A topic.
Would love to know too.
They suck the water into their mouth just as a cow or cape buff does
Was wondering if the baby was weeks or only days old.
It sure acted to me like it wanted to show those elephants that it wasn't a big scardy cat LOL.
Thanks for the great pics everyone. I hope someone will post the video; one great sighting. Wow.

Ty WD that was very informative. 16 Months gestation ugh poor things and I thought 9 was bad...but I guess nothing compares to the elephants gestation time!
Hi again everyone!
Wow, wow, wow, to that sweet baby rhino. Thanks to all that posted pictures.
That was fun :-) ! I can get back at it again, hope the next time I check in there will be a >^--^< !
I jjust read this about new born White Rhinos ...A rhino calf is relatively small at birth, weighing approximately 140 pounds (65kg). Here is the link to the complete article, quite informative and consise.
I think there was something @ EP while momma and baby were at NK cause when I looked at it again camera was facing the ground. Did anyone happen to see anything there??
In Africa during the dry season, depending on the sources of water, the range increases from 12 sq. km up to 20 sq. km. Rhinos don't need to drink everyday, and cycles of about six days have been recorded.
