Marula has separate male and female trees so fruiting females attract browsing elephants, which cause damage to branches and bark.
Good day al cammers! Very interesting question... According to Dirk it is a male tree. It has round leaves and the shape of the bark is also round where the female tree has more rugby ball shape leaves and bark. It is also the male tree carrying the fruits.
