No I haven't heard of any studies of them. There are larger coalitions but I don't think there are any right now in the Sabi Sands area. The Mapogos were sired by a fierce coalition of 5 males. The Styx pride managed to keep that coalition at bay so hopefully they can keep their sons at bay also.
I truly don't think and hope they wouldn't do anything about the Mapogos. It is after all the natural process of things and like mentioned before they are not the first large male coalition. The lion populations survived the other ones and so hopefully they will survive this one too.
