penzi I watched a video on youtube yesterday of a lion going after a hyena. The hyena was trying to steal the lions kill. 3-4 lionesses attacked this hyena (there were a total of 4-5 hyenas but only 1 attacked)...it walked away with a very obviously injured leg. Lucky it walked away but I don't think it lived. It looked bad.

Broke my heart. I always tell myself NOT to watch that stuff, but I find myself clicking on it only to regret watching it later. I could kick myself for watching it.

Hi Kara, I do the same thing.. but when I lived in Zimbabwe I saw many attacks and fights for food so I got used to it and just stayed out of the way.  Sometimes they would tolerate each other and the lions would give verbal and mark warnings for the hyena's, but usually hyena's would push the lions and get into trouble.  The hyena's would come around when we bbq and give us lot's of cries and wierd noses.. They stink to high heaven too.. smell like death- or dead animals.. I don't much care for them but they are strong and loving towards the little ones and have strong family bonds-usually lead by Alpha female-girl power...holler back,

My reply should have been here!!!  darn it allllllllllllll..

I wasn't a fan of hyenas when I first came here. Thought they were freaky looking animals to be honest.

Now that I have been around for awhile they have grown on me. Mostly when they are running around having a hyena pool party. I also cannot help but laugh when they do the hyena giggle. You can just tell they are up to no good.
