It is sad but true, Africam once had a lot of members who joined and are away now.

Were are they and why have they all gone?

For me the answer is: Africam's website is overloaded with adds, which make's the website very slow.

The interaction on africam splitted up with Forum and chat, its not nice to post at the forum and then later on read that the NK rangers told info on chat and not on the Forum.

I dearly love the webcam NK has and i will always love it! But the interactive part is fading away.

OK a new Frontpage? Nice but Africam a new frontpage doesnt bring the ppl back.

The only thing that can bring africam users back is TALK to Them!

be active in chat!

Listen to us, answer questions we ask you!, If you dont do that more and more users will leave.

I feel a deep love for africam and it always will stay.

But why should i chat and ask questions if i never get an answer ?

Africam You had a great group off users who left ! get them back!

My dear ppl who did not leave.. i love you all!

always a pleasure to meet you online.! and yes our major love is the love for animals!

Take Care and be safe!

Gday Iceage

to be honest im not sure what viewers lost you are refering to but i can tell you as a very active member of teh chat room that we have had a very large number of new people through the chat.. in fact the most since chat was put on africam...

and as far as the rangers interacting goes i cant really talk for them but i know that most of teh other rangers( not jac) are more comfortable in a real time chat situation and most of teh members in teh chat try to post any relevant information we might recieve and not see posted in the in teh forums...

might i extend a welcome to you to come and try interacting with jac, greg, ronnie or bushie on an occasion u see them in chat..

have a good day

paul

P.s i think it is important that no line be drawn between chat and forum as there is none.  they are both part of africam and both have validity as we move forward....

Gday Paul,

i know you are a chat lover, i am also a  chat lover  a lot ! but on africam i think its the death off the forum.

Lets take yesterday when the Styx pride showed themselve's

I first wondered : is this the Styx ladies ? Is it the Windmill lions ? to have the answers i have to be in chat.... ( i dont want that)  Questions about that are ignored and the chat brings the answers..

Beeing in the forum is no use if Jaq only goes on chat and tells us all there YES it was the Styx, and then you from chat tell us on the forum YES it was the styx pride.

Chat can be nice i know.. but chat on NK overrules the forum.

Africam has to make a choice . either chat,  ore post info on the forum.

It cant be both

i have to disagree because until we had teh chat we didnt get any real time information we would have to wait til the moment had passed and hope they came on to tell us details.. teh chat enables them to very quickly relay information without taking time from zooming.. i do agree that it should be also post in forums for teh users that dont enjoy teh chat format..

i think there is room for both, for exciting sightings like last night u cant beat that real time interaction. but to pose a question teh forums are a great to do that and get an indepth answer.     anyway i have said my 2 cents worth lol

have a great day

paul

Maybe the chat is new to you, maybe not,

I chat since 1994 and i know it is nice and fast.

But for africam i think it doenst work.

Only a small group off ppl are on the forum and chat kills them all.

It can survive ... but then we have to close the waterhole talk.

Been in chat.. Its not my thing at Africam. I love the Chat at WE and i am  as much there as i can, But for Africam i think it doesnt work.

Africam is a webcam that you can have on all day and its always a surprise what animals are visiting.  So if you see something special ! Then it is special!

The animals on Africam come freely to drink.

On WE drive's its different, they bring you with a car to the animals and they answer the questions you have and ask.. WE is bringing you to the animals while Africam lets you wait...

I choose africam.. I like to wait for what is coming.

I am waiting for the Windmill lions.

We all have the choice to use the forums to chat or the chat room. My sense is that there has been some neglect of the forums that has sparked this message.

As far as the chat room; my opinion is that it has probably brought more new viewers to Africam in the last 5 or 6 months that just having a forum would have. I think it's been good for Africam, and Im proud to be one of the folks working to make the chat room an enjoyable experience. We have developed a wonderful core group of people that watch over each other and the room; a family in a way. We are loyal to Africam and we appreciate what has been done and gets done to enhance our experience.

Im sorry to hear that Iceage does not find the Arficam chat room appealing, but yet loves to chat in WE. Is chat not chat?, no matter where. Perhaps you have not given yourself enough time to get to know us all. The chat works well for Africam, and our cam is on all the time.

Xpat.

Ok Point taken, and i agree with Xpat.

Dont get my previous message's wrong, i dearly and deeply love Africam!

We is completly different as Africam, as on the drive's answers from chat are answered by the rangers who do the drive, while a drive is gooing the chat on WE is busy ( mostly).

I consider WE and Africam as good neighbours ( friends) i love them both!

But Africam was my first love and it will stay that way.

As i tried to explain, for me the tension to look  at Africam  (nkorho) is bigger as a drive on WE.

At a WE drive i really have to focus and try to see and hear all that is said, while on Africam its much more relaxing.

I can look at the NK waterhole hours and hours ! and because the cam is steady  the surprise if special animals show themselve's is bigger to me as it is on WE.

I also find the NK cam much more relaxing, i often have it on on the background, and sound on loud, and i can hear it if animals are coming.

2 years ago when the rhino family with Wheenie ( the rhino baby) often visited at night i just could hear them coming!

When i putted on the NK cam on an early morning after just beeing home after a busy nightshift and saw teh Windmill pride was there it was a THRILL!!! I was so happy to see it.

The Nkorho Webcam really really is very special to me!

So agreed with LostinOz and Xpat , maybe i could give the chat a chance.

I think both are important.

real time chat is nice but sometimes imformation can scroll by so fast I really can't keep up trying to read, type and watch all at the same time.

I find if I just ask in the forum someone will answer me.

I do not care for chat. I only come to the forum if i have a problem to see if others are having the same thing  I love the cam and visit it every day. I'm running into a problem today, the cam keeps stopping & i have to keep clicking to keep it going. I have watched this cam from the begining.

How often is it happening and is it going to where you see the spinning wheel or the arrow in a circle when you say it is "stopping"?  If it is the arrow with a circle be careful you aren't clicking on the cam view which does stop the cam viewer.  If it is the spinning wheel. if others aren't saying the cams are down, you can try a refresh of the page, clear the cache and close the browser and try again, and check your bandwidth download speed as it could be your internet speed has a problem and dropped too low.  Hope this helps.

The number of the people who watch africam ..varies of what they can see ...

When there is a good zoomie behind the cams people comes ...and discuss also the sightings and their feelings

When we see just spots moving around the waterhole it is simply disappointing ...

It is pity ...really pity a cam like that at nk ...to give us only such pics

I'm not rude ...It is the reality ...When there are more choices it is obvious that people will choose the less boring ...

ETA ..Just think how many of you check Tau ...none ...simply it is boring ...Eye-wink

ΕΤΑ 2 and I'm not going to leave that place too ...except of it is a part of my life ...I know what great pics can offer .....(the above it is just a feedback)
