You are so right Mike - it really bites Gareth's bum that when he wants to come home he has to pay the prices he does for stupid little hops from Hoedspruit or Nelspruit to Johannesburg.  Recently we worked it out that it was half the price of a ticket to London for that sector alone.  So it makes coming home very expensive for him - sad that there is not a special deal for people working in the industry!

One thing people need to be aware of is that air travel within South Africa and southern Africa is not cheap. Also because of times of travel, connecting flights often to do work out well and you have to spend time in hotels when you would rather be at your final destination. This can add days to your trip time. Companies like CCAfrica often will book you on private planes. While this bumps up the prices even higher, it is more efficient as you can go from reserve to reserve without staying in city hotels.
