New Day, same old problems... Batteries
For those of you who might not have heard Hayley's announcement at 18H20 this evening 31st August - game drive for today (pm drive) as well as tomorrow morning and evening drive are cancelled. They have apparently found the fault that is causing all the battery problems and tomorrow are driving to the nearest Town to see if it can be sorted out. Hayley is holding thumbs that all will be well for Sunday morning and afternoon/evening drive and she apologised for the inconvenience but assured us that they are doing EVERYTHING in their power to resolve the battery problem. Hopefully whoever finds this will put it at the top of the new page that gets opened for Saturday 1st September!

Good evening all. Today was pretty exciting, we got to see two male leopards, one up in a tree dining. Also we went out on a special ride to help an injured ellie that was caught in a snare. The Ellie was darted and we were able to go to him, move him on his side and touch him. The removed the snare, put on some ointment to prevent necrosis. Many pictures were taken, so hopefully I have something good to show. I will say this, ellies do snore!
WOW Mike thats amazing, i'm looking forward to seeing your photos. I hope you are enjoying yourself and not drinking too much amarula...LOL __________________

Just for a bit of fun I got the magnifying glass out and looked not at the necklace but at the whisker spots and you can see that these are two different leopards (at least that is what I think)! I do know that most of the bigger game reserves use whisker spots to identify different leopards as there tend to be quite a lot of leopards in their areas. In my son's landrover he has the whisker patterns of all the leopards of Thornybush at the back of his map book. I do remember that when Gareth was doing his ecotraining in the Northern Sabie Sands (alongside Elephant Plains) he saw Safari frequently and she is unmistakable as she is blind in one eye! She is probably now around 11 years of age! I do not know how old Karula is nor do I know her lineage so we would have to depend on one of the rangers giving us this information! __________________

Okay, compare Karula's Neck with the one Gerda posted.
In this next one you can almost see all 3 necklaces when she is facing forward.

Karen, got a mission for ya. LOL I know you have lots of stills of Karula. If you run across one with her necklaces... please post it. You can snap some pics of the one on my video from Nkorho too. I'm pretty sure there is a clear shot of that one's neckline.
sure can try!
need to figure out what days we saw her first tho, guess I can try and trace that down on youtube. you know I have 1-2 pic folders for each day. thankfully, most all of them have the critters in their own sub-folders for better finding. We can compare spots. heehee__________________

Mike! So good to see you
Thanks ever so much for taking the time (and probably making the effort) to come online and keep us up to date. Greatly appreciated!
Sounds like an exciting day for you. You will treasure these experiences your whole life, I'm sure.
These sounds on cam are confusing. Some times I would swear it's a leopard, the next second I'm convinced it's a silly old frog!
