I got a copy of the Elephant Plains Newsletter today. There's a great pic of our beautiful girl, Karula, in it. I would send the URL but I can't see well enough to do it.

One of Karula`s cubs

Hi GrannyCAt!  Is this the picture you were talking about?

This is one of her cubs. Looks just like her too!

How you doing?

You're right, Sag. It is the cub that looks like her. Also so beautiful. I really am living in a foggy world. Hopefully will have cataract surgery in Feb.

I do love cheetahs. Sat 3 hours at the San Diego wildlife park beside a fence near a shade tree while 7 cheetahs slept one day. Family finally dragged me away. That was the same day we saw an antelope born right after we arrived. Not sure what it was. Smaller than an impala, I think..She didn't lie down. Neat!

Sounded like a good relaxing time watching those cheetahs sleep!  That would be something I would do while everyone ran all over the place.

Watching that birth must have been exciting too.

You will probablly be amazed all you can see after you have your surgery.  Feb. is not too far off.

If a zoo has cats, I'll always have a good time. Went to the Denver zoo once and there was a tigress with 4 babies, eyes barely open. Sat and watched them thru a one-way window 'till they dragged me away. Tiger kittens are so cute, these were stumbling over each other.

I love watching cats.  I can also watch them for hours.  Just something about the way they move.

Since we're not busy, here's another zoo tale. We were at the main San Diego zoo, looking at Bononos, when we heard a mild commotion near us. Dh had the vid camera and we went to see what was up. A lady orang named Inda, had scaled the 7ft, concrete wall between her compound and the one next to her. She walked the wall to the front of the compound, jumped down about 6 ft. and was free, loose in the zoo. About then dh got the camera rolling. Some keepers came and told us to keep away, they can be dangerous, but people stuck around.. She went to the big plastic barrel for trash, knocked it over, and sat happily going thru and occasionally tasting, the contents. She was so funny! The keepers finally darted her and one on each of her limbs, they carried her off.

About 15 minutes later, a woman from their pr//marketing office came and asked if anyone had vid footage. We did, and let her borrow it. She returned shortly and invited us to her office. She said it was not really negative publicity, and whould like out permission to share it with the local tv station for the evening news. We agreed, and she gave us all cokes, t-shirts and tickets to the wildlife park, where they have their breeding programs and research. Tickets were worth about $6o, for 3 of us. That evening, we saw Inda on the news!

Wow GC that was some story!  Glad no one got hurt (including Inda).  You really made out handing over the video.  Cool!

Well, since I don't see or hear Rexon...guess I got the short straw again.  Lyn's viewer is giving me fits...keeps popping up with an error thing and I have to cancel and stop/start.  Well, at least Maxx's is doing fine...
