Hi everyone.....Hi Karen - apology for slow answer - this seems to be drop-in company day.    Re our Kuhumas.... no there was not a count given for the # of cubs, just that at this point, as far as the folks at Djuma know, they are safe.  Spending time in the Manyeleti property.  Of course, we know this can all change in the blink of an eye.   I wonder  what prides are north of them in Manyeleti that might put pressure on them from there....   The drama continues to unfold.

Thanks for the update, Lily.  This is great news!  So far... (fingers crossed)

MH, you are welcome.   It is worrisome to know they are  not necessarily safe with only one guardian.......and it is worrisome to know that 5 of the Mapogos are still   prowling around.  I wonder which area they were in the other drive when they were seen for that short period.    They sure are making their presence felt no matter where they go...

Lily, you mean only the one male guardian? Aren't there are quite a few females with that pride? One can only hope they could put up a fierce fight with other males who may try and take over... Well, maybe not the Mapogo Mafia, but others who may challenge them.

Yeah so far so good. The Mapogos don't seem to be proactively hunting them.

Yes, MH, I did mean Dozie as the only male to protect the pride.   I have not a clue as to what other prides might be in that northern area to challenge them there.   I think there were 6 or more females?  Anyone know for sure?

Lily, I believe there are 9 lionesses.  Just not sure how many cubs now since the numbers seem to be all over the board.

Hi, everyone.  Was just reading the posts and this is what the Djuma Dreambeat reported in the last newsletter...how accurate?..I don't know and if you've already read this...sorry.

One of the Nkuhuma (Kahuma) male lions was killed by the Mapogo pride of six males from the central Sabi Sand Wildtuin. They seemed to be looking for the other male from the Nkuhuma pride which swiftly moved north with the rest of the pride of 17 (including 13 cubs) to Manyeleti Game Reserve. The lionesses and the cubs were seen the next morning on the Manyeleti boundary with Djuma. The male didn't stay with the whole pride, but rather took one of the females to accompany him.

hi gang,
thanks for sharing rest of what you were given lily.

and thank you sherran for sharing info from drumbeat.

a while back, when blondie was still with us, we had the 9 females, had the original 9 cubs and at that time(think was in oct., 2 of the 9 females had went up north and were said to have had 5 more cubs. which at that time gave us a total of 14 cubs, but.... that last time we saw them, there were not sure how many right off top of my head right now.. maybe 4 brand new little ones that had be brought back to pride. so, just in my thinking, unless something happened to some of them, it should be some where between 17-20 cubs from what has been shared with us on drives or different sightings reports.
it is soooooooo hard to try and keep up with the exact info, cuz we get different things from different folks and areas. aaaaaaaaccccccck!

On here.....Jan sounded tired.  Bet the storm kept them all up.  Rexon driving....may get an hour out of batteries with storm shortening charge time.

Lana - you stay safe.  Those same storms that are hitting you really did a number in WI today.  Tornadoes & all.   Keeping good thoughts for you.

There's a drive????

Well, what with the "sorry screen " all night, and the craziness with yesterday's PM drive, I believe I will wait until they get all of this ironed out.

I support WE 100%, but this is bordering on ridiculous!

If it had tracked a few miles NW, it would have hit us.  I know the anxiety.....these winter freak storms are the worst.  Like I said.....stay safe & will keep good thoughts for you.
