LOL Karen...thought human newborns cry because the dr. spanked them. But, who knows...maybe baboons do the same or bite them. Anyway...I'm on to a windy wh. Just read your posts and see that Rexon did the drive. Cool...can't wait to see him live..only saw the video of the other one he did. Have a great whatever is left of your day/night. __________________

I don't know if it's the same squealing you are talking about, but some times what I think is a maybe younger baboon will squeal out. __________________

We have grey heron here...and they can get quite loud....but it is always a croaking sound. I heard the piggie sqealing again...I wonder what it is...? Sounds like it is very windy there, but I dont see any branches ..OK never mind now I see them. __________________

that heron is possible the source of the wild ruckuss we've heard a couple of times in past. when rodney was still around, he zoomed in on one that was going off big time. could be the resident heron, gary. __________________

Did Rexon say the drive was finished? Scops owl calling now!
yes Penny, Rexon came back on around 6:25 CAT and said "we are going to end drive before we get to hyaena den, and we will probably come see it in morning". Now.... unless they are trying to keep things different on first couple of drives to make the chanhe from Djuma to WE for Rexon much smoother, I would have just stopped and shared what ever that sighting was, because Pieter had to have noticed the time and saw there was no way we'd have time for hyaenas if we made it there in time.__________________

Oh well it appears that drive ended with that strange occurence - maybe it was not a sighting or maybe the battery died there and then - we will never know if we are not informed. I am off to watch the last episode of The Amazing Race and bath and bed - it is bitterly cold so that is probably a good idea! Goodnight everyone from the South African Hog!! __________________
