NEW DAY!!!!

Anyone happen to be listening right now? I just heard a really deep bellow - sounded too deep to be babs -and it was followed by some grunts..Just wondering what on earth it was!

Didn't realize we were close to new thread starting time when I posted in the old thread. Moving that post here:

Elaine....

I am still uncertain of the orientation of the different locations. Please take a look at the satellite image below. I have the Nkorho pan marked (far right) as I am certain of that. However....can you identify the other areas of Djuma that I have circled and lettered. Up till now, I thought the area "B" is where the Djuma cam is located and where Peter does most of his drives. However....after reading your posts...I am not so sure now. The other dam I have circled, area "C", with lodges nearby, doesn't seem to match the view we get from the cam.

Thanks! I have the cam up but it is stop and go. :( My internet connection hasn't been the greatest lately so wasn't sure if it was that or not. Have no problems with the Nkorho cam.

Hi Col! I think it was the egyptian geese swimming. :) Rebooted and resequenced the modem/router. Still not getting the best stream but seems better than before.

Hi Aquila...I think it is the player that comes with the web site. My Windows player does a fine job for the pan. No trouble there. It is just impossible to watch the cam.

Person in UK says she gets the feed just fine.

Good to see you Aquila! :P

I haven't been able to access it much lately. When I can, sometimes the feed is excellent and other times it just won't work or stops and goes. :(

I too get the pan just fine. :)

Here`s a link to the Djuma game reserve showing where all the lodges are located. The Vuyatela lodge is where the safari drive originates, I believe.

Hi Everyone!!! I was just on you tube checking out the drives with Peter and I noticed one..I believe from yesterday that showed a wild african cat. I guess it's african version of a barn cat.I found it kind of interesting. Just thought I'd post the link for anyone that wants to see it.

Been in and out, have time for a nap before the morning drive. Hi anyone who is around.

I wanted to comment further on the AWCat sighting yesterday evening. It was fantastic, something I never expected to see. I think the cameraman spotted the movement and ID'd it, but I thought, "Great. I know we won't see it. Too hard to catch on camera." I am so amazed at the camera/IF light work. They managed to spot it, light it and film it so we all could see. I never thought they'd be able to do that in such high grass, but I feel I got a good look, several good looks, saw it pounce about 3 times, so it was doing it's thing besides. Can't say enough about the good camera/spotting/IF light work. Masterful!

I also watched and was amazed that he could even spot the cat. Great camera work and I found it so very interesting just to hear him talk about it.

GrannyCat, did you see when he spotted a Genet and waited hoping to give us a view but it didn't show back up. :( I really want to see one up close and hopefully long enough to observe it.

Yes, I was crossing my fingers but I know how fast and shy they are. I did see one one night at the WH. It sat at the edge of the water for a minute and then it went in and walked on the inside edge of the water all the way around, catching and eating bugs/frogs. I lost it in the dark at the right end of the WH. But it was definitely a genet, long long banded tail, big ears and all. Very cat like. Maybe they will find one again and have better luck.
