Some of the ads are really annoying - too loud and too long. But I understand the need for them. I'm quite satisfied with the site and love watching the animals. Now if I could figure out a way to have all 3 screens going at the same time. Thanks for all the beauty and wonder of Africa.

Hi all you bush babes

I have no problem with the ads, as I could never take part in Africam if I had to subscribe to it - maybe getting more bush lodge ads would be more appeasing to the eyes. Sitting here now watching elephants at NK, the only way to make my day exciting

Sorry - sorry - sorry!

I have been a member of Africam since the early 90's and I have seen some beautiful streaming vids of the animals over the years, sadly however, not very much at all lately!

Today I visited Africam.  BE, as we all know is 'down', Nkorho Pan wouldn't load. nor would EP .  I managed to load Tembe alright ;-)  I saw some wonderfully coloured ads, which helped to pass some of my time.  Regarding the question about paying for an adfree service, I cannot understand why anyone would want to pay for an adfree service just to watch two 'ducks' on a pond - sorry they may just have been Secretary birds.  So - my response to the question has to be a resounding 'NO'.

Disappointed Sad

Hold on here- Africam already gets the ad revenues-

And is suggesting that viewers  voluntarily pay ON TOP of that not to see the ads?

I dislike the ads, too. I love the instant alerts on FB- seems the ads interfere with our being able to see the animals almost instantly rather than spending hours waiting for them like in the beginning

Think long and hard about turning this into a pay site in any way. Domino theory about to happen folks.

I understand those not paying would still get the ads. I fear this is opening the door again to pave the way for this being a pay site.

It's bad enough that  tourists in the jeeps/trucks often scare the animals away-they get to see them way more than we do-then again they are paying to do that.

Please think very very hard about this.

Thanks for listening and keep up the good work.

This is a fantastic site getting better all the time.

Could you keep all the ads small banner ads on the bottom of the viewing screen??

I don't like the ads, but I understand the need for them.  If an ad-free version were available, I'd be very interested so long as it were affordable.  For me, $5/month would be affordable.  If other people feel differently or are in a tight financial situation, they can keep the ad-supported version.  If they can't tolerate the ads and don't want to pay for a subscription, they can go Africa or rent a nature DVD to watch the animals.  I don't know how you have any patience for petulant brats like Safari Jules who think that they have a god-given entitlement to enjoy the fruits of other people's labor.

I would be interested in an ads free subscription service, provided it's not too expensive.

I'm in a big doubt here. I used to be a great fan of Africam, and had it on all the time.  I even used to have it on in the background when I went to bed, because I love the sound of the night to go to sleep with, and the sound of the birds to wake up with. It was like having a window to African's wildlife, which is so relaxing as I live in a big city.

Then the video adds came and that completely ruined it for me. I couldn't have it on anymore for the background sounds, let alone fall asleep to it at night, as the tranquility was roughly disrupted by the noise of the adds. So I have been away now for quite a while, but I must say that I do miss Africam. Last week I visited again, and initially it looked like there were only the pop up adds at the bottom. I do not mind them, as they come without sound and don't take away the whole view (and can be clicked out). But then the video adds came back, and I really hate them.

I do understand your financial need, but being on a low income (and sometimes a very low income), for me 5 dollars a month (60 a year) would be too much. Realistically, yes I do understand it, but would I pay 60 dollars a year for it, probably not. You are thinking about packages for say 3 months, half a year, a year, but paying for a few months at a time (or longer) might be too expensive for me at times. If you go through with it, I hope you would also offer a monthly deal, as then I can see each month if I can afford it or not and it would not be a big amount at once.

I really hope that you find other solutions like side adds (or silent adds like you have now at the bottom of the cam) for users who can't/won't pay, or a lower payment for advertisement free Africam so more people would be able to afford it and willing to pay donations. But if it's going to come to 60 dollars a year, I'm not too sure about it. Unfortunately.

arik2 yes, what u bring up is a concern in that we would cannabalze our ads traffic, hence reducing the exposure to advertisers.

We will be watching these types of issues closely when we start the AFS
